The map shows unemployment rate in Europe based on total unemployment rates. In 2011, the average unemployment rate of the EU was 9.6%. Significant differences however existed between the countries and regions. Many countries heavily hitten by the economic crisis have very high unemployment, like Spain, Greece, Ireland and the Baltic States.
The map uses a combination of NUTS3 and NUTS2 levels.
