This map shows accessibility potential by air in the BSR in 2014. Accessibility potential by air is defined as a function of the activities or opportunities to be reached at the destinations (here: population), weighted by the air travel times needed to reach them. Darker colours represent areas with the most (blue) or least (red) potential with the ESPON average (100) taken as the middle point. For air transport, above-average performance can be observed for the capital regions and for selected agglomerations (e.g. Hamburg and Bremen in Germany, Wroclaw and Krakow in Poland, Gothenburg in Sweden). These air hubs are important gateways for residents of BSR countries to secure fast and easy access to Europe and to the world.
