The five Nordic countries and Scotland have each followed similar SI trajectories but are all at different stages on the journey. This section of the website explores these different journeys, outlining the national context in which social innovation (SI) has developed in each Nordic country and in Scotland.
Our analysis of the national contexts is based on two main themes. First we focus on the broad policy and administrative context that shapes responses to demographic challenges in rural, remote and sparsely populated areas of each of the countries, and how these are changing. Second, we describe recent development of TSI in each country, how it is used, and any public sector efforts to support and nurture it.
